After lunch at Breizh Cafe, we wandered around the neighborhood of La Marais (which is très mignon, by the way) before stopping by Rose Bakery, a boutique bakery started by a British woman named Rose Carranini and her French husband. Her aim, I heard, was to “to dissolve the distinction between home and restaurant cooking”. Rumor has it that Rose Bakery offers some truly wonderful organic salads and sandwiches, but we were so full at the moment that we only had room for…desserts :)
Boxes of colourful fresh produce stacked all over the place.
Cake aux fruits rouges (€32/kg), cake with red fruits.
Cake à la pistache (€32/kg), pistachio cake.
Fresh juice: apple, carrot, and ginger (€6.50).
The cakes were moist and tasty, but quite expensive considering that these are just pound cakes and each piece turned to be about €6.50. Also, a brownie for €7? Wowee, I better start making these at home from now on. Will be back to try the lunch items though – there’s a saffron risotto that looks particularly enticing…
