One day in Athens, yes it was quite rushed indeed. To see all the archaeological sites, we woke up early to beat the crowd and the heat, and it was definitely worth the effort. To make things easier, we got the combo ticket which covers 7 sites in total including the Acropolis, and started with Temple of Zeus then made our way through the rest of the area…
The Pantheon.
We were done with the archaeological sites by noon time – we could’ve spent more time at each site for sure but by this point it was really too hot to stay outdoor, so we made our way to the Acropolis Museum for the air-conditioning indoor exhibitions, and on the way we passed by some interesting streets.
Voila, the museum. Well organized, strong air-condition, and a cafe with the best view of the Acropolis. Can’t complain.
Cooled down and well-rested after a long coffee break at the museum cafe, we wandered the streets a bit more, checking out some pretty doors and talented street artists, and even discovered an outdoor cinema along the way, before we ended up at Black Sheep for dinner.
Then, we took the taxi up to Lycabettus Hill for a view of the city as the sun went down.
What a day it’s been. I think I will be back again, Athens.
