Hotel restaurants can often be boring, but that’s not the case for Country Kitchen at the Rosewood Hotel in Beijing. Equipped with an open show kitchen and a wood-roasting oven, this rustically stylish restaurant features a wide array of Northern Chinese specialties – a modern tribute to traditional Chinese dining in a sophisticated yet casual setting.
In terms of interior, the materials of choice are granite, wood, soft red tones, terracotta and oil paintings – specifically chosen to reconstruct the charm and simplicity of a village restaurant.
As for the food, here’s everyting we tried. Ronking Farm Cucumber Salad, Garlic Vinegar, Sesame (45 RMB).
Poached Chicken, Sichuan Pepper (55 RMB).
Ma Po Tofu (70 RMB).
Scallion Pancakes (65 RMB).
Grilled Eggplants (6 RMB/skewer)
Seasonal Vegetable (70 RMB).
Peking Duck (280 RMB).
Am always uber impressed by how nicely the cooks are able to slice off and arrange duck skin/meat like this…
Stir-fried String Beans (70 RMB).
Organic Mongolian Lamb Leg (390 RMB).
Handmade Noodle, Eggplant Gravy (65 RMB)
A very good meal with an overall high standards in flavors. To sample a wide variety of Northern Chinese dishes in a beautiful setting (and with excellent service), look no further than Country Kitchen.
