Day 3 in Berlin, woke up early for breakfast at Zeit für Brot (Time for Bread), a charming bread shop in the Mitte neighborhood. Cinnamon buns and milchkaffee, a perfect start to the day!
Then, a visit of the Reichstag, the Imperial Diet building. The large glass dome at the very top of the Reichstag has a 360-degree view of the surrounding Berlin cityscape and is free or charge to visit, complete with an audio-guided walking tour that last for about 45 minutes. You do need to register in advance, and don’t forget to bring your reservation confirmation and ID when going to the appointment.
Dropped by Curry 61 for some currywurst, a must-eat when in Berlin. What it is: steamed then fried pork sausages seasoned with ketchup topped with curry powder. This might not be the most delicious thing you’ll find in this world, but when it’s had alongside a beer on a sunny day out on the greens, it’s really a very pleasant experience. Monbijioupark right next to Curry 61 is a good choice for currywurst eating.
Strolled to the graffiti alley near Hackescher Markt, a funky little area bursting with street art.
Gestalten design store.
Last sightseeing event of the day: East Side Gallery, a 1.3 km long section of the Berlin Wall consisting of 105 paintings by artists from all over the world, painted in 1990 on the east side of the Wall.
Close to the East Side Gallery is Michelberger, a boutique hotel with a rugged, eclectic design and a very lovely courtyard.
Wouldn’t you want a can of Fountain of Youth, too?
After dinner at a friend’s, I ended my trip in Berlin with a cup of Taiwanese bubble tea. Why not? It tastes better and is only half the price of what I can find in Paris…
