Cha Mi Living is about good tea, good rice, and good life. I stumbled upon its Fumin Lu branch two weeks ago, and fell in love with this chic little concept store. If you like tea, tea desserts, or teaware, be sure to drop by and take a look.
Plain wood, warm lighting, simple colors.
Upon entering the store, we were offered a small cup of cold-brewed tea to sample. It had a clean taste that’s especially refreshing on a humid late Summer day.
Other than tea, Cha Mi Living also serves desserts – Cranberry Victoria Cake, Mocha Almond Cake, Cranberry & Earl Grey Biscotti, Taiwanese Pineapple Pastry, Green Tea Panna Cotta, Cha Caramel Custard…I haven’t had a chance to try any of the sweets, but they do sound quite unique. The price? two for 28 RMB, three for 38 RMB, and four for 48 RMB.
Order a pot of tea (40~60 RMB) to enjoy in the store, or buy the tea leaves to brew at home. Cha Mi Living has a “book of tea” that teaches you the characteristics of each type of tea, specifying the brewing temperature and time (I think it’s only in Chinese, but you can double check with the store). Or, just ask the very friendly staff for help – they are more than happy to give you instructions on how to brew the perfect cup of tea.
Other than tea and rice-related products, Cha Mi Living also carries a fun selection of modern porcelain teaware.
And here’s the motto of Cha Mi Living. It makes more sense in Chinese, but you’ll get the gist from the English translation as well.
The staff told me that they will be serving tea smoothies and rice/soy milk in the near future, but so far those are not on the menu yet. Stay tuned for updates.
