Sidewalk is a chic little cafe / shop that I stumbled upon while roaming around in the Noho area on a Sunday morning. I was originally looking for Lan Fong Yuen 蘭芳園’s milk tea and stir-fried instant noodles, but alas it wasn’t open. So how about a cup of coffee and some dainty little cupcakes instead? Why not.
At the waiter’s recommendation, I sampled a red velvet cupcake. Fluffy, with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting, the cupcake was a few delightful bites. Only when I paid did I find out that it costed me 30 HKD! I also later learned that these cupcakes are from Sift, and if you directly buy the cupcakes there, it would be 25 HKD a piece.
Here are some snapshots of what you can find in the store – a fun mix of books, home fragrance, clothing, accessories, and the likes.. great place for stylish and quirky gifts.
Sidewalk might not be a destination in itself, but it’s a great place to stop by for a cup of coffee if you are in the Noho area.
Those cupcakes are from Sift! Possibly the best in HK, but they don’t come cheap (as you found). You should go to Sift on Graham Street for dessert too!
Hope you’re enjoying your time in HK :)
Yes I had a great time in hk :) actually went to sift but unfortunately it wasn’t open. Its on my list for my next visit!
lan fong yuen was quite good, which surprised me, given that it was hidden almost entirely behind what i thought was a milk tea kiosk. we had the 蔥油雞扒撈丁, which was delicious and has me still dreaming of it from time to time (cha’s has a sad attempt at it that doesn’t even come close). the milk tea was surprisingly mediocre imo…but then there is good milk tea to be had everywhere in hk. definitely worth trying next time you’re in hk! they close very early in the afternoon if i remember correctly (maybe 2 or 3?)
argh i’ve heard such good reviews about lan fong yuen, especially the dish u ordered. MUST get that on my next visit…will check opening times before i head over. very surprised to hear the milk tea was mediocre though :/
