Jonathan Blot (ex-Plaza Athénée and Jules Vernes) opened his Acide Macaron boutique and tea salon back in 2009, but I never really had the urge to visit because…well, its name sounds a little too corrosive for my palate. I finally trekked up there last week after hearing good reviews from a friend who also works in the industry, and was very happy to have discovered this cute place.
Afternoon tea for one (just kidding).
Thé Baikal (€5.50), a Russian black tea with citrus flavors. Love the teaware and the tiny macaron that came with the tea.
Fraisier à la verveine fraîche (€7.50), two layers of biscuit sandwiching fresh strawberries, strawberry jam, and verbena cream. Not bad, but I could do with a more pronounced verbena flavor and without the sugary almond paste on top.
Tarte au citron de Sicile (€7.50), lemon tart made with Sicilian lemons. Light and pleasant.
Saint Honoré à la fraise et thym citron (€7.50), a Saint Honoré in strawberry, thyme, and lemon flavors. Refreshing, balanced, and very interesting with the addition of thyme.
On a related note, Acide also has a boutique which recently relocated to the 6th on rue du Bac, now neighbors with Des Gateaux et du Pain, La Pâtisserie des Rêves, and Angelina. Should visit there soon to try the macarons, which are apparently what Jonathan Blot himself most loves.
when i see it,i see i love it so much.
