This tiny pâtisserie / boulangerie near Bastille opens at 7am – before anything else comes alive on the street – perfect for those who crave freshly baked viennoiseries for breakfast. The croissants, in my opinion, are especially well-worth the trek.
The croissants (€1.10) at Blé Sucré are sweeter than the average, with a crunchy caramelized crust and a fluffy buttery core. One of my favorites in Paris.
Pain au chocolat (approx €1.30), also a good choice.
According to David Lebovitz, Blé Sucré makes the best madeleines (approx €3.6 for a bag of four) in Paris. I beg to differ as I prefer the ones at Pâtisserie des Rêves or Un Dimanche à Paris, but these freshly glazed little nuggets are indeed quite delicious. Why not grab a bag while you are there.
Tarte aux abricots (€2.60) was soggy by the time I got to it, and the apricots were super acidic for some reason.
Tarte aux peches (approx €2.40), nothing out of the ordinary, but comforting and satisfying.
Quiche lorraine (€3.30), slightly on the salty side but a tasty quiche nonetheless.
Need another reason to go? Very, very reasonable prices.
Thank you for post all those post about Paris!!
I just got to Paris for a few days and tried the madeleines at Blé Sucré today on my way to le marché d’Aligre. What a coincidence! It is SOOO good! I definitely need to get the croissant next time. I’m also excited to follow your suggestions and try so many other places later. Merci!!
