As I’m leaving Paris the pastry wonderland soon (direction Shanghai), I’ve been hopping around eating even more pastries than I already do…and for the first time during my three years in Paris, I tried pâtisseries from Cyril Lignac. The celebrity chef has two pastry boutiques in Paris, with production headed by chef Benoit Couvrand. Let’s see what they’ve got for us.
Equinoxe (€5.50), composed of light bourbon vanilla cream, salted butter caramel and crispy praline with speculoos. I’m not a fan of the grey look and the bourbon vanilla cream is quite a bit too heavy for me, but I can see this being a popular one for those who enjoy rich flavors and textures.
Tarte Citron (€5.50): nut-flavored shortbread with lemon cream, white chocolate decoration. This tart is beautifully designed, with a surprise of lemon compote hidden inside the lemon cream. Like.
Baba au Rhum (€5.50): baba with bourbon vanilla whipped cream. More or less classic.
Raspberry Tart (€6): sweet tart shell, almond cream flavored with exotic syrup, vanilla cream, fresh raspberries and raspberry puree.
Then there are the viennoiseries, all quite nicely done.
Kouign-Amann (€1.90).
Brioch Gianduja Tonka (€1.60).
Pain aux raisins.
Happy to finally have tried La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac. Not my favorite pastry shop in town, though if I were living in these neighborhoods I could see myself getting sweet things from here from time to time.
Best wishes for the next chapter in your life.
Thank you!
