Almost two years later, I’m back at Pierre Sang Boyer. A few changes since my last visit: the restaurant is now open daily, added an online booking system, and the portions seem to have gotten bigger. What hasn’t changed is Pierre Sang’s creative cooking driven by market-fresh ingredients, sprinkled with bits of Asian (mainly Korean) touches. What I enjoyed about dining here, other than the fun and delicious food, is that everyone – from the chefs to the waitresses to the diners – seems to be having a good time. It’s a lovely, convivial experience.
Oyster with wilted spinach, crushed wasabi peas, and pomegranates.
Raw marinated scallops with ???. Oops.
Cod with cream of Jerusalem artichoke, candied kumquat, onions, cresson.
The next dish being finished right before me. The trio of condiments were placed so close to my plate that I almost reached out and helped myself to some of it.
Seared filet mignon of pork with sauteed yellow carrots, red carrots, and mushroom “trumpet de la mort”.
Cheese with yuzu marmalade.
A small glass of granité made from this Korean berry (whose name escapes me now…)
Coconut ice-cream, crushed coconut sablé, oranges, pineapples, and lime cream.
Compared to my last visit, the style of Pierre Sang Boyer (the restaurant) seemed to have became heartier, in both the food and the service. I like very much.
