A hilly neighborhood filled with small art galleries, fancy little shops, and cute cafes and restaurants. One of my favorite places to wander around in Seoul.
There is a popular noodle shop – popular according to my guidebook, at least – called Samcheong Sujaebi (삼청동수제비/三清洞刀削麵). After a series of pointing and nodding, I managed to order the “soup with pull dough morsels with perilla seeds” (7,000 won) at the waitress’s recommendation. The bowl was hearty, rich, and delicious, but a Korean friend later commented that she has never even heard of this dish before…?!
My lunch, a bowl of mystery.
After lunch, I wandered around a bit more in the area and stumbled upon Barbara, a cute shoe shop specializing in ballet flats.
I also spotted a sign for “Seoul Museum of Chicken Art”. Chicken Art?!
I was also very impressed by the blooming flowers nodding from all corners of the streets. Aren’t these just the cutest flowers you’ve seen? Pink and heart-shaped, oh my.
If you are into cute cafes and galleries, Samcheong Dong would be the perfect place to spend your morning or afternoon. Or both.
