For some sexy and “very hot dogs”, visit Bikini. Named after a famous Spanish disco from the 1970s, El Willy’s adult film-themed sandwich/hot dog joint is small (only four tables) and simple. Choose from the selection of “very hot dogs”, “hot and pressed”, and “snackies”, which don’t really make a satisfying meal, but for a mid-afternoon or late-night snack, they might be just right.
Soft-core porn posters on the wall, on the table, on the door.
And…robots.
We started the meal on the wrong foot by ordering Truffle Popcorn (90 RMB), which disappointingly came in a tin can. For 90 RMB? So not worth it.
We soothed our wrath by downing some Lucky Beer (love its Buddha-shaped bottle), a local brew from Thousand Island Lake.
But we really came here for the hot dogs. Here’s everything we tried: Mr. Jeremy (65 RMB) – Dijon mustard, saute garlic parsley mushrooms, Emmental cheese, arugula & truffle oil / Mr. Vidal (45 RMB) – ketchup lime mayo, fresh basil, diced tomatoes, jalapeño, raw & crispy shallots /Mr. Holmes (65 RMB) – bacon, avocado, mayo, spicy salsa & crispy shallots. Good, good, and good.
I personally preferred the choripán selection, fat and juicy Argentinan beef chorizo and Chimichurri sauce in a crispy baguette. Try Pampero (55 RMB) for the original flavor, or Picaton (58 RMB) if you want a little spiciness to it.
We also sampled a few “hot & pressed”. Meet Miss Lynn (48 RMB) with roasted eggplants, mushrooms, fresh spinach, sundried tomatoes, olives & goat cheese.
And here’s Miss Anderson (55 RMB) with warm smoked salmon, walnut, fresh spinach, apple & goat cheese.
At 45~65 RMB per item, these hot dogs and sandwiches are really quite expensive, and I probably won’t come here again for a full-on dinner. For very tipsy people coming out of The Apartment, on the other hand, this might be a very attractive spot for some late night snacks. You won’t care about the price when you are only half sober, anyway.
