I wouldn’t have ventured into DOE if not introduced by a friend. The shop is primarily a streetwear boutique featuring its in-house label DOE 餖, as well as familiar names like Nike, Jordan, Converse and selected brands from Japan, U.S., and Europe. Not really my type of place to visit, until I discovered that it also doubles as a cafe serving quality coffee. What I love about the space is its tiered stadium seating instead of the typical table-and-chair setup, making it an extra chill and comfortable hangout spot.
The cafe is in the back, serving a variety of coffee ranging from espresso to latte to specialty brews. There’s also Cubano (32 RMB) – coffee with condensed milk – something we don’t often see on the menu. By the way, DOE has the same pronunciation as “beans” in Chinese. Beans. Coffee beans. Get it?
Beans from the famed Blue Bottle Coffee of San Francisco.
Flat white (32 RMB/small, 36 RMB/large). Not much latte art going on here but it’s a tasty cup.
The second floor includes additional area for product display, and also serves as an event space. Apparently Nike, where some of the owners used to work, just hosted an event here not long ago.
Whether you are into streetwear or not, DOE is nice place to hang around when in the Jing’An neighborhood. Love the tiered seating setup and am tempted to bring my own cushion to sit around here all afternoon.
